Well finally we got the weather we have been waiting for since the opener. We had highs in the 60s all weekend with little wind. I fished Crowley on saturday morning for only a few grabs stripping and a few dunks indicator fishing. I've talked to a lot of the guys that have been guiding there lately and it seems like the fish are really spread out all over and no big concentrations of fish anywhere. This makes it very tough to have a great day. Just getting a few fish here and there.
After Crowley I went over to the June Lake loop and fished Rush Creek near the mouth of Grant Lake. There are a few big lake fish in there but really spread out through the river.
I fished Grant for about 3 hours for not one single grab. Just about everybody on the lake wasn't having that good of a day. From Grant I went to Gull lake to see if I could find one of the big cutthroats hanging around. I landed a few stockers but no cutty's.
Sunday I went to one of our back country lakes in the hunt for monster browns. We ended up landing 5 browns and around 30 nice brooky's. Our browns were in the 18 to 19 inch range. We didn't land any of the monsters but had a few of them on. I can't wait to get back out there again.
Although the weather has gotten a lot better this week. The fishing is still a little off. The streams are fishing very well. But I don't know whats going on with these lakes right now. I'll be putting in a lot of time to figure them out soon.
Other notes I fished Twin Lakes in Mammoth on thursday. I started at the lower lake and then moved to the middle part after not getting a single grab. The lake is pretty much dry of trout in the lower and middle parts. All the fish are up in the upper lake near the water fall. The lake is now 100 percent ice free. Stocking should begin this week or next week.
Lake Marry road is scheduled to be plowed on Monday the 11th. The road should be open to the public either 1 week from then or during the week before Memorial day.
I'm looking forward to another week of great fishing. I've been putting up a ton of new pics on my website also.
