11/29 Poway

I heard it bit friday when there was cloud cover and the air temp was more cold. I do not know how much truth there is to that. They just want to be cold.

Reid and I fished it hard Saturday and the conditions were sunny and hot. We got one on a inflated crawler around 8:30am and missed one on the water bobber slow free fall crawler. The fish never came through the area where we thought they would sooner or later. Around 1:00pm in the middle of the lake a few fish started showing themselves with lazy boils. The boils were slow but consistent so we motored out there and slow trolled crawler for one hour. When the fish are lethargic we do ultra slow troll. Bump stop bump stop so our crawler free falls then comes back up and so forth. We fish the lower water column, mid, and up top slow troll. Two bites and we got one of them. The other spit before the line ever got tight.

In the early morning over the buoy line a spot of fish came up that was about the size of 2 rental skiffs. It was high and dry for awhile but moved south towards the dam and not towards us. Nice wad of fish.

We saw very few Trout caught. The Catfish were biting though.

I was hoping they would bite before I go back to the tropics. Err.

But Snook here I come.

That sounds cool. What do they come up and feed on? Spot of fin bait? Bugs?

Both. The fish in the middle were eating floating bugs and left over floating power bait stuff, Saw one swirl on a power worm right next to the boat... We saw one fish boil around a few times on a small school of bait closer to the shore. The big spot far away over the buoy line looked like it was breezing, not sure.

Some nice fish waiting to be pinned.

Thanks dudes and good luck on the supers.
