Trout Gear?

Hi, what type of rod and reels do you guys use when fishing for lake rainbow trout(like poway)? I know it's suppose to be light but any specific brands or types of combos that haved worked great for you guys? I am thinking about this rod http://www.sportsauthority.com/sm-pf...i-2649982.html. And any specific powerbait colors that work well at poway?

Thanks!

Used Kencor UL 4 footer 1-4 with 2lb, or 5 footer 2-6 with 4 lb, egg sinker and carolina stopper at about 18-24" chartreuse and either power worm or 1/2 night crawler. does very well in all SD Lakes. Cousins son used a 9$ batman pole from waly mart and hooked and landed a 9lb trout out at Corona go figure.

I Like both of the rods SP4V is lined with 2# using a STRADIC 1000FI or SP5V is lined with 4# using a SAROS 1000F. The extra spools with either 2 or 4# depending on the lake. I also use the STRADIC for jigging trout teasers. If you plan on fishing more that poway go with the SP5V, its a good all around rod 1-6# I think sports chalet has them, thats where I bought my dads. Let me know when you go out always looking to go fishing.

what do you want a short rod for?

I'd go with the PAC73 from Kencor.. you can bait fish or fling trout worms or finger jigs.. pair it up with a Daiwa SS700 and some fresh 2# Max and you'll be set.

Kencor Rods

I have 2 custom Kencor pac73 with Titanium guides extended butts and graphite reel seats both with Shimano Stella's 1000FB spooled with Ande Tournament 4lb I use for shore fishing. I use a 4ft Kencor and a 4ft Zebra with the Stella's for fishing from a float tube. Both set-ups are GREAT....

Big 5 Shimano rods for $19.99. 6.5 ft.

Shimano Sedona, Sahara or Sonora

I fish 4# with 4# fluoro at Poway. A 6-10# trout can have it's way with 2#.

They have teeth too.

I don't see the point on spending alot on a trout rod for stockers in Poway.

bingo. I fish 6 lb. with a two pound leader when fishing bait. 6 lb saves a few lures when you're throwing the "iron" and isn't going to scare off a fish chasing a lure ....
