eastern sierra

fishing trip up to eastern sierra dad, uncle and son/nephew.

started this morning heading up the 395 from the vagabond in bishop. first stop hot creek.... 1 5 pound rainbow and 2 browns. next stop owens river going into crowley lake. 2 nice browns and an uncountable number of rainbows...all released alive. after that we headed up to convict lake and hit a couple spots around the lake getting nothing but little stockers. hit the creek running out of the the lake and land a nice 6 pound rainbow probably an alpers. next stop rock creek lake for a bunch of bows. next stop pleasant valley where the river comes out of the dam. you really had to work it because the water level was super low so there was a bunch of pools spread out. in every pool there was fish we caught a few nice size browns. a couple of large mouth and a couple of sacramento perch. and that was the day. all in all not a bad day at all. will post a new report tomorrow night. fish on everyone

ps sorry no pics ill make sure to have my cam tomorrow

That's one hell of a day! Forget the driving, but pulling a 5# and a 6# out of creeks in the same day? That's nice work. Hard to do, too.

Wow, Good for you guys.

I left on Wed night. We also fished the Upper Owens and we nor anyone else we saw had that kind of success. Also fished Convict for slow fishing on a few stockers most we talked to caught nada...What is the key to your success? Rig, bait, fly fishing?

we know the areas. been comin up here for a while. we used mostly crappie jigs, panther martins, nymphs, and blue fox lures. didnt use bait at all...all artificials. we move alot if the fish dont bite the first few casts. we dont waste time for those one or two fish. and we have a game plan for the days we fish and what spots were going to hit. we burn alot of fuel.

Anyways no no pics , were usually on the move and no one wants to carry the camera , just fish and move , anyone who,s been fishing up there any amount of time know where to go end of season, as sometimes they will dump a bunch of fish from the hatcherys , most are not big , but they do have some nice ones that they have kept through the season and need to get rid of , not to mention the alpers left overs , the browns sarting to spawn, anyways it is what it is , me and my son and brother know what we caught and thats all that really matters .

So You let all the fish go back? I am assuming as It sounds like you wish you had a camera and would have taken a pic once home with the fish. I also assume no more fish for the rest of your trip as we have heard no more and you stated youll be sure to have the camera tommorow?

Sounds Fishy-
