we were up the end of august and fished lee vining creek, up and down the canyon. I fished a nymph and caught fish when I wasn't helping out the kids or eating and relaxing in camp. Once my son caught two on eggs I moved him over to trout teasers, black with silver or yellow or white, sparkle good, but with black seemed to do best, and he continued to catch fish the rest of the week. yellow Roostertails and thomas bouyants in that radical neon color that would attract an 8 year old were the hot lures in the areas with more water. Some guys in camp wacked em at saddleback a couple days on lures after taking the taxi thing across (I need to explore that more). Have fun and remember to use the bear boxes. This last trip up into that area was phenomenol. You could be getting some awesome fall color too.

Try Lundy Lake above Lee Vining. I fish it two weeks every year and it always produces. This time of year you should have it almost by yourself.

the trip this weekend was good. we started off at Green creek which is just before Bridgeport. the camp site was way out there, 8 1/2 miles on a dirt road. we set up camp just to fine out that the site cost $65 dollars a night which i thought was a lot. didnt feel like moving camp so we stayed. the next morning went fishing and got 3 brook trout and 3 rainbows on a nymph. this was my first brookie so i was stoked. next day went up tioga pass and found a nice site on a river a short hike away from a lake. cought som rainbows and a few could ones. all and all a good trip.

glad to hear you had a good trip. 65 bucks. Wow. Heads with showers, tent service included ? Hopefully it wasn't somebody that just hedged their bet that you wouldn't want to tear down and relocate camp and jacked the price .... did they have private access to a portion of the creek ? How much was the second place ? Did you get any good fall color in the trees ? And how about skeeters? Just curious, I'm still itching from the last trip ... I love that small stream fly fishing. Thanks.

Nice job on the fish, but at $65 a night the site should have came with hot/cold running blowjobs.

don't think "finish off" wasn't in the back of my mind, but I gave him credit and assumed he was up there with a chick to handle the basics of camping .....
