| First time fresh water fishing, need help
Im working up in Idaho and want to get a line wet, went to the local tackle shop and they have me buying small spinners, hard baits, soft baits, spinners, pretty much a couple of anything. Im looking to get a basic outfit a small spinning outfit with some gulp for drop shotting and some grubs and lead heads. They are catching bass, catfish and pike in the lake.
I need help with getting just some basic tackle for shore fishing.
Thanks

hj | I tried the night crawler thing, its not for me. I like a little action or I get bored.

It looks like there is a huge lake right there in town, does it have any Bass in it?? I went to Council ID (way south of where you are) I was suprised to find out there was good bass fishing nearby. Thats the first thing I would check into.
Other than that, I would guess there is some river and stream fishing close by where you could throw Panther Martins and such to catch some Trout and maybe Salmon.
**EDIT**
I just re-read your first post....
Just get a nice spinning reel like a shimano stradic, a 6 ft Med Heavy rod some 6lb test and dropshot some Roboworms for those Bass!!
Throw some iron in the rivers for those Trout with the same rod reel combo.

I've caught bass in the Colorado River using small scampis just like what I use in saltwater. Biggest ones were caught using red which is pretty close to the night crawler color. Many others were caught on the bright green. About an 1/8oz. to a 1/4oz. lead head.

Up there Green Pumpkin is king. I like to Carolina rig creature baits with light line and weights. You can dropshot them as well. YUM woolyhawgtails are good. You might throw some ripbaits as well. Long rocky points would be the place to start.
