San diego county lakes

I want to take my grandkids out to catch some fish in San diego this coming weekend. Any suggestions on where bluegill or crappie are biting ?

I want them to have a little fun and do some catch and release.

Thanks
Aloha

Lake Murray looks like it has a good panfish population going and it's not to big a drive. Henshaw should be hot on the slabs if you got the gas money.

I'd say Otay is the best for bluegill right now. If you can get there on a nice sunny day with few people you guys are gonna catch em all day!

Poway used to be really epic for panfish till they put that damn curtain around the lake.....

San Vee bluegill are jumping in the boat. My buddy has been taking his kids and catching them on anything. He said they even ate the bare hook. Get some mealworms, a rental boat and head to any arm. Bonus is they are the big fat Florida strain. Some of those things are 2 pounds.
