Bridgeport and Rock Creek...

Just got back from a yearly father/sons trip to the sierras....Spent 2 nights camping on Robinson creek...Fishing was great for all you wanted stocked trout on white mini jigs...Tried Buckeye creek for a while by the second bridge but had no luck..Stopped at the bridge by Doc and Al"s and caught a few more..Fished lowerTwin from sure for nada....Next morning back on Robinsons creek and caught 10 before 10...All fish safely released..Weather was beautiful and the creek was running a little lower than normal..Water barely coming over the spillway..Lots of snow in the mountains to melt so it should be a good season....Saturday around noon we head down to Rock Creek and set up camp at Iris Meadow campground...Hit the creek and get about 8 in an hour on mini jigs..After dinner its off to Rock Creek lake at the lower end of the lake we caught a few on fly and bubble...It"s getting cold....Next day we hike up above the Lake..Hike in about a mile and fish our way down..Caught a bunch of small brookies and browns.....Last night(Sunday) go back to the lake and used the fly and bubble for 13 trout...Over all it was a great trip..Not many people and great weather...Gas at the Paiute station in Bishop was $4.25 today on the way home...If you are thinking about going, Just go.........

Your post totaly inspired me. Never been to the Sierras before. Leaving Friday afternoon for an indeterminately long weekend. I have pleanty of camping experiance and I'm not worried about that. What concerns me is that I havent fished for trout in a stream for about a dozen years. Any tips you can pass along would be greatly appriciated. Also, I've never fished with a fly and bubble before. I get the concept but is there any thing special you need to do to create a natural looking drift? What fly patterns did you use? You can do this in a lake?

Sweet! Heading to Doc and Al's the 19th - 23rd, gonna hit up the lower twin, Robinson Creek, and the Bridgeport reservoir. Went last year for the first time, now its going to be a yearly trip for me. I had a blast last year and everyone was saying the fishing was slow due to the small amount of snow fall.

Pattyho...We were told to use a mosquito pattern fly but we are not experts and just used what we had that might look like a mosquito..We filled a clear bubble about half full of water and put on about a 4 foot leader of 2 lb to the fly...Threw it out as far as we could and reeled in real slow....
