| Diamond Valley Lake Well here is my 411 on Diamond Valley Lake. Unless you have a boat or, you are in shape…… I recommend not going. The Lake was poorly planed for the angler who doesn’t have a boat. You got too walk almost a ½ mile just to get to their fishing spot and the walk is a brutal walk if you are a heavy set out shape angler like me.

DVL was designed to be a fresh water reservoir first and a fishery second. Long before it opened there were constant battles and threatened lawsuits between the water district, the State of California and the local communities regarding whether or not to allow any public use and you just experienced the "settlement" of limited shore access, no bodily contact and four stroke or newer technology two stroke outboards. The toughest part is fishing DVL in the summertime when it can get 110 plus degrees and you can't jump into the water, but I guess they're trying to make sure it doesn't turn into another Lake Pampers....er I mean Perris.

Don't forget about the rattle snakes or swarming bees/hornets. Shore fishing at DVL sucks.

Been alot of years since I fished there.... was alot of shore fishing and you can drive up close to many areas. Unless somethin has changed it may be a lil more user friendly for ya

Seems renting a bass boat might be a better idea. Shouldn't be too much between two or three guys.

Me and a couple buddies went shore fishin there a couple years ago and one of my buddies put his "TOES", I repeat "TOES" only, in the water while pulling in some small meaningless fish (I cant remember what it was) and the ranger saw this. He threatened all three of us with a fat ass ticket. We all said sorry like bitches to get out of the ticket (I think he just wanted to see us squirm) and vowed to never go there again.

Last time I fished there we spotted a riv-co sherriff cruiser lurking at the south side of the east dam glassing the lake for alcohol and tobacco criminals! They cruise the perimeter also and like nothing better than to sting you for d.u.i. at the ramp pulling your boat out. D.V. must pay for this service but the thought of them spying on us is un-american. Watch out for the water nazis next time you go!!

You are not allowed to smoke or drink on the lake. Bunk.
