Guess that puts a big question mark on the National Geographic Story they were filming there...

My good friend, Mike Long, caught that fish when it weighted 20-12. Then next year, I was fishing with him at Dixon, when he said "want to see the world record bass".
What he showed me did not look like a freshwater fish at all. It was huge, and obese like a gulf grouper. If Mike said it was, then it was. Mike has caught more bass over 17 pounds than any man on this planet.
Just my 10 cents...

Its about time that fish died. I am happy about it, now that it is dead I am sure that a good chunk of the part time pro's world record chasers will get on with life. not talking shit about the handfull of dedicated guys just the thousand or so guys who own a swimbait and are self proclaimed trophy hunters

Just goes to show that world record fish are only in peak shape occasionally!
Capt. G, many anglers were aware where that bass lurked. I'm sure Mike was aware of it, but I met a guy who spent 17 days trying to catch that same fish last year (so he said)! Big fish can be predictable!

"Damn that Dan Hernandez guy! He makes fish kill themselves before they're caught...he's good."
This made me laugh.

There is already a rumer that the dead fish was not long enough and that the spot could have easily been tattooed, I think she is dead but hey every one who fishes with swimbaits or bed fish should fish exclusivly at dixon every day just to be sure.
