Big Bear Lake 5/3/08

Well we got skunked again up there. We were on the rocks by the dam for a few hours in the morning. Saw one guy get a small trout but that was it. I tried the mini jigs, but after reading online, I think my 6lb line was to heavy?? Still, hard to beat looking at the view while fishing!

6# is way too heavy for mini jigs... the fish can be finicky up there especially when the water clarity is good. You need to use 2# and natural colors when the water is clear and still use 2# and brighter colors when the water is murky. I've tried this theory myself....wide open on the 2#, shut down on the 4#. It's wierd that way. Up in the Sierra's it's not like that. Big Bear can be the exception to the rule sometimes.
