If you're going to Havasu and like striper...

The striper fishing at Havasu Springs fishing dock was pretty good. Sorry for no pics.
Lots of shad to snag and cast. One shad = one striper. Lots of 1 lb'ers and we caught a few 4-5 and one 7 pounder.
Oh yeah... it is friggen cold. Very cold, but bearable if you dress for the occasion. Fishing is best at night.
It got real crowded even at night as this is the best time of the year. If you gave up your spot to snag a shad, it would be taken when you returned.
Fun but crowded.
Nostrovia and Happy New Year!
Dave

Re: If you're going to Havasu and like striper...

....a large, weighted treble hook. We watched guys at site 6 last year. They would snag a shad and cast it back out. Need shad for the big boys. The little ones like the chovie too.

And yes best time is at night....gets really good during a full moon.

Time to drag the grumman out there. It gets really cold around 4am.

Re: If you're going to Havasu and like striper...

I did not know there was Stripers (Rockfish where I am from) in Lake Havasu. I have to go there for a conference in March., Everyone wants to go skiiing, I would rather fish. Is the fishing any good at Lake Havasu in March?

Thanks again for the report
