Eastern Sierra Report 6/25

fished lake mary and lake george very hard on fri 6/22 with only minimal luck. very slow on the power bait and artificials. only 5 fish between 4 people (my kids scored, parents skunked). talked to a local, he mentioned saddlebag lake in lee vining. said, "it's worth the drive". visited my cousin camping on the lower owen's river in the "brown campground". they limited out on worms and artificials. we took the advice and took a drive up to saddlebag and were not disappointed. 2 days (sat and sun) and two limits for 4 people.......it was mentioned by the local that one of the hatcheries had a quarantine placed on them, so the planting is not regular for the mammoth lakes.......at saddlebag, powerbait in any color worked.

Nice...I was there on Friday, the 22nd, and the plant trucked dropped a huge load with some nice fishes. Water was extremely low at Saddlebag, the crowds were light, and the fishing was good. Good fun on crappie jigs....

my wife talked to a hiker that was passing by that day. you must've been one of the people he observed "catching fish like crazy". his testimony was another reason why we took the time to drive a bit to saddlebag on the 23rd....
