Well, It's been a long while since I've posted on here. Bobby and I pretty muched fished all of 2006 in the ocean on my boat KillerInstinct and only managed a couple of trips for catfish and trout on Bobby's KillerInstinct Jr.
We started off the year with a great trip to Castaic for over 20 largemouth bass, which we released for the 2 of us several weeks back.
The last couple of weeks, Bobby has been going to Castaic and getting in on the nice stripers being caught all over the lake.
Today, I joined him to try and get in on the action. It was a cold chilly morning, but no snow like a couple days ago. We headed to the regular striper spots that have been producing at the ski arm, but the meter showed no large concentrations of fish, so we headed back to the fishing arm to meter around there. A couple of guys had some little fish and 1 guy had a nice 7-8lb striper, but once again no volume and no good readings, so we decided to head back to the ski arm and head for the old reliable bouy line. When we got there a couple guys were hooked up and we metered fish more consistently, so we found a spot and started working the baits on 6lb test.
Bobby, started right away with a nice 2lb fish then another and another. Until he got a nice 5-6lb striper. I was not even getting bit. Finally, I get a bite but nothing. I couple more stripers for Bobby and he nails another nice 5lb striper. I'm not giving up so finally, so finally I ask Bobby to move since this spot is not for me and we stop at a point before heading in and finally my turn comes and I set the hook on my only fish of the day. After 15min Bobby nets a nice 10lb striper for me. We decide to call it a day with a total of 8 stripers and a couple lost fish.
The bite was steady at times and slowed and then picked up again for everyone at the line. I think most people had 3-10 fish at least. Fish ranged from 1lb to 7lbs from what we saw being caught.
