Well, I guess I will make my first post something which may be useful to some. My buddy and I arrived today around 5:45am to be the 10th one or so in line before the gates opened. We bought our boat permit and were on our way.
Right off the bat out in front of the boat dock my friend caught the first trout of the day on a gold kastmaster. Approx 8:15 we had a steady pick on trout and had 6 on the stringers. The others came on either straight PB or half-nightcrawler. The first were a bit touchy it seemed as far as wanting to fully take the bait.
Overall we both limited out on trout today but had to deal with a slow pick from 9-12 with A LOT of short bites. As the sun came up we switched over to orange power worms (one rod had PB with the worm, the other just the worm). It seemed that everyone was catching fish today, at least in boats. Definitely could have limited early if we wanted but we were getting ancy and setting the hook early or breaking a few off (we dont bring nets, kind of a jinx thing).
Here's a note for all of you thinking this lake is too warm, well that's just silly. All of our fish came with only a split shot on top for weight no matter what time of day. There were no clouds so the water was "warm" and the fish were not only breaking the water all over, they were biting on the top. If you weren't catching it was because you were fishing on the bottom where the "cold" water is
