Lake Skinner?

Looking for some kind of info about lake Skinner... Taking the family this weekend and wondering if it's worth bringing any gear? If so what should I prepare for?

Re: Lake Skinner?

ALWAYS BRING YOUR GEAR!!!!!! That said, Skinner is hit & miss. I hate fresh water fishing, so when I go there I go to launch ramp #2 out to the point and start throwing a trout like plug with one pole, and soak a anchovie on the other for stripers. The reason I say ramp #2 is cause that's where they stock, and days they stock the striper go apeshit as soon as the trout hit the water.

Re: Lake Skinner?

Do you fly fish and are you taking a boat? They like white flies, all white clouser, or if you are fishing with conventional take rattle traps, top waters, jerk baits, anything that looks like a shad. Or just do what everyone else does and soak a chovie or chicken liver. If you are taking a boat the points to the left of the dam go off in the afternoon, also if you want a trophy throw a trout plug. You may not get any hits but if you do get one it's a trophy for sure. Good luck

Re: Lake Skinner?

Take a boat or get a boat. Go to the inlet early. Toss top water baits as far as you can at the inlet. Later toss fly lined chovies or chicken liver or use a small split shot. Went yesterday and caught several nice stripers up to 8 lbs. I left the fish biting.
