| irvine 12/11 slow
fished irvine for the first time this season for trout and man what a disappointment. me and troutguy tubed from the boat dock, through woody's cove down and all down the west shore for a grand total of 3 trout(one was a nice 3.5-4# fish), a couple bass, and a couple bluegill. the fish didnt seem to really be hitting one certain bait as out fish came on nc, rainbow pb, and roe. the jig bite was basically non-existent. overall it was still a fun day to be on the water even though the lack of catching
also here is a pic of a 12.5#er i got at sarl a couple weeks back just i havent had time to post. i know you guys hate sarl after seeing that bangin bob post(funny as hell might i add)but i am pretty stoked that i got this fish. i got her on one of the new lil ripperz.

Damn nice fish to catch, but I'd think twice about eating it.

Ditto on the slow action, managed two trout on the pb from shore at the flats. One went 5.5lbs the other just under 2lbs. The action was slow but it was a nice day to be at the lake.

Capt Curt and me were at Irvine also on Sunday. We ended up with four...the best going maybe 1 3/4#. Very slow indeed. We did get to see a nice Doe with her Fawn down by the shore first thing in the am. That was pretty cool. Three fish came on Power worm, or Power Bait, and one on the troll on the silver Super Duper. Talking with others on the lake it sounded like the Rapalas were working for a few guys, (silver/black, and firetiger), but even then only a few. It was a beautiful day to be on the water even though the fish weren't cooperating very well. Glad you got a few.

I was out solo Friday the 9th from 8:30-12:30 (after the light rain stopped)and managed to put 4 on the stringer, farmed two, and missed 2-3 bites on my 4' micro rod where setting the hook can be difficult if the fish are not agressive. Largest fish 2.5+, others all 1#'rs taken across from trout island. Really had to work at it by keeping the line tight in the wind and working the bait slowly back to the boat. Seemed that a little movement was required.
IMO the lake really needs their advertised 10k stockings scheduled for 12/14 and 01/04 (not sure of dates) and the regular 5k the two weeks in between. If they get a couple of good loads of 1.5-3.0#'rs over the next 4 weeks in the advertised 30k stocking, the lake will be ready to rock as it did last year. Instead of front loading the lake with fish like they did last year, they delayed it for the holidays.

it was stated they cut the tails for "selective breeding process"
but i call bullshit
WTF does cutting the tails have to do with breeding ??????
i guess they swim slower so the males go hump the females shit i dont know

They cut the tail so they don't jump out of their pens while at the hatchery. Can you imagine such a huge fish with a full tail and what it could do? They would be able to jump 10 feet out of the water and really pull some drag zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Nobody would be able to land one...NOT EVEN BANGIN' BOB HIMSELF!
