Rock Creek, Montana

Well my dad and I headed up to Rock Creek on 8/3 and drove to Pocatello, Idaho. Woke up the next morning and drove to Anaconda, Montana and got our hotel room for the 1st 2 nights while we fished the upper and middle or the creek. We stayed in Missoula the 3rd night and fished the lower end of the creek. Then we headed to Pocatello around 2 and made the trip home the next day. It was really smokey up there cause of a couple forest fires near by but the weather and fishing were incredible.

This is the first spot we stopped.

Me with the 1st fish of the trip.

A close up.

My dad with his 1st brown.

Me with the lunker of the trip.

Here's a couple fish from the second day.

My dad with a really nice brown.

Me with a fish on.

My dad fishing.

I can't wait to go back. I grew up fishing the Eastern Sierra's but this place blow's it away. Just have to watch out for all the wild life up there.

Re: Rock Creek, Montana

Looks like some good weather and good fishing.

I couldn't do my Montana trip this year. We go up to Stevensville/Hamilton every summer. Love that place.

Larry,
Great post, most people don't even get to see what it looks like up there. It was really hard to see your dad in the pics, I think it's the camo wads. Talk to ya later, maybe over a few beers and some pool!!!

Re: Rock Creek, Montana

That creek is rediculous Smitty, it has so many damn fish in it and is over 40 miles long. The main thing that keeps it good is the road you have to use to fish is all dirt and rocks and pretty rough in alot of spots. The locals that live around there won't let anyone upgrade or upkeep the road so alot of people don't fish it.

Yeah Saluki it's insane up there. It went from around 36 degrees in the morning to around 80 - 85 in the afternoon.
