7/7-7/13 Sierra's and Yosemite

Still unpacking and looking for cameras but wanted to mention a few important tips for anyone heading up this weekend.

1. DEET...... you want it, you need it, you'll almost drink it !!! The skeeters are THICK and everywhere! Worst I have encountered up there.

2. SPF 4,000....... Weather is awesome but pretty warm.... abnormally warm this past week. 80+ in Yosemite and Mammoth lakes area and warmer in the valleys.

3. Water flow is high and faster than average from all the run- off. Yes, there is still plenty of snow up there in the upper elevations. Fishing creeks is a bit trickier..... look for the pools and slower water.

4. Bait..... nightcrawlers (usually in halves),P-Line has some new dough that worked great in the orange flavor* Powerbait*all the colors seemed to be working, Berkeley cricketts, salmon eggs*Balls of Fire

5. Lures.... Martin Panther*gold spinners with black bodies/yellow dots, hollograms and the yellow with red , the new Thomas Buoyant with red and yellow with dots worked killer on the lakes,

6. Flies.... I only had a few Wooly Buggers in brown and olive and they slayed them. Others were using Matukas and scoring as well

I'll post the whole trip report and pics later....

I hate digital cams....

My memory card is not in the camera and that means it wasn't in there for our trip. I have a few pics that were stored on the internal memory, but not many. Here go's....

Big Creek on the Western side in a town called Fish Camp. We caught stocker 'bows and wild browns.... All within a hike from my campground.

Camped and fished the Mammoth area for a few days and did real well at Upper Twin Lake and Lake George. This place is awesome in the summer.

You're not kidding about the runoff. The waterfall looks double in size from last year.
