| DVL 11/16 Too Many Trouts/ Ramp Progress.
Hit DVL this a.m. on my first shore fishing of this lake. Brought some old bass gear and dozen crawlers. Worked the cove east of the marina and just pass the 5 mph bouy line. Floated crawlers on 18" leader for an easy limit of the trouts. The biggest at 18". Threw the old (not $30) swimbaits for a few LMB chasers of decent size but I couldn't fool them enough to go for the rubber. I saw no stripers. I forgot my bag with the plastics but I did find two used oxblood/blue stripe that were salvagable in the one did have and went 2 for 12-14 pickups on a couple of 10" bass
The launch ramp is touching the water and the lake level is rising. I should have my Crestliner back from the recall work by the time it reopens.
Back at the truck by 11:15, dropped the fish at my friends house in Hemet and headed to Soboba Casino only to find the parking lot full of cars. WTF, all I wanted was an easy beer and 20 minutes on a table, must be some kind of coupon day. I'll save my money for the next time.
A 2:15 beer at the office and a quick BD post.

I usually wait for high tide.

Nice going on the trout. Hit it yesterday morning for a few hours. Started out on the east dam and worked our way west to the bottom of the road where they sometimes stock. Lots of small striper boils early with a few large ones mixed in. Threw the big baits for a while then switched to scroungers and underspins on the boils. No takers all morning with the exception of a nice fat 10" lmb that ate a six inch robo. Nothing on poppers either. The guys fishing the point by the island were getting a few trout on crawlers and pb. I tried the bbz and huddleston again in this area and had a small wolf pack of 5 or 6, 10 to 12 pounders follow it all the way in before making a quick exit down the shore line. Just ran out of real estate. Maybe next time. Beautiful weather. Good to get out. Watched a guy fight a nice fish for about ten minutes before he cracked it off. Looked like a good fish. They were anchored up and appeared to be fishing bait.

I have fished that lake twice for trout, from a boat, and did not even get a bite.

You can see the highwater mark in the pics. Easier to drive straight down and pull a u-turn. Long walk back after you park the truck.
