Cuyamaca Suckfest Oct 16-18

Boy, my pals and I were sure expecting a slaughterhouse for this weekend, based on all the hype we've heard about this lake. Over basically 2 full days, I pulled up 2 one pound bows by the dam, and one buddy got one by the northeastern shore...on a piece of mackerel with a size 1 hook! WTF! Besides the easy crappie limits (25 pp), which you aren't supposed to release, it was pretty shitty. I also don't see why I "need" a $10 boat wash on a 12' aluminum hull with an intact inspection tag from Hemet from a month ago, either. Too many fees, not enough trout. Also, did not see/hear any reports of any catfish caught, and only 3 other trout caught total all weekend. One 2lb LM was caught sat.
Trolling this lake is damn near impossible with it only being 12' deep, and most of it under 10. I did a lot of weed collecting for them, though. With a water temp of 55-58, I was expecting a bit better I guess.
Looks like I'll be going back to Hemet until I find a friendlier lake.

Wow, that sound pretty awesome.

I put in two 16 hour days at work on the weekend, and caught much less than you did.

That's our favorite hole in the winter, we only split and stack lone pine in the late afternoon.
