barrett lake is a very special place and an amazing fishery... be very stoked to fish it and enjoy your entire day there!
here's a few pointers....
- early morning/late afternoon top-water & frog bite on the mats and on the tulle edges (zaras, pop'rs, frogs, etc...)
- early morning/late afternoon buzz bait bite, throw em across shallow points (white & chartruese)
- typically they eat the rattletraps, spinnerbaits (in white & chartruese) and senkos (in "Watermelon Red & Black Flake") with glory, all day.
- they love to eat the jig there. Black/Blue/Purple with a purple double-tail trailer worked good for me on opening day.
- pic up some "brush hogs" and other "creature baits" as well as Yamamoto 6.5 cut-tails in "Watermelon Red & Black Flake", "Pumpkin with Black Flake", "Tequila Sunrise" and anything with Purple also works well.
- also bring plenty of water, food and sunscreen... there's no concessions @ barrett.
im fishing Barrett on May 31st, June 3rd, then again on June 7th, so ill be sure to report back here for anyone planning on hitting it later in the month....
GOOD LUCK OUT THERE!

I heard they're having 100 fish days out there for good guys right now. Expect a lot of fish, but some skinny ones.
