| Irvine Lake Bassing
Hit the Vine for an 11 am to 1pm bass session. First Cast , I throw a half ounce white spinnerbait into the trees and get thumped, missed it , continue to reel towards the boat and as soon as I see my spinnerbait in the water about 20 feet from the boat a 4 pound trout comes up and inhales my bass lure. Damn . I am bass fishing . So , I decide to put out a couple shad crankbaits and slow troll while I cast the to the treeline with my spinnerbait. Worked my way through the flats and caught my first bass on a trout crankbait . Damn. The next fish was a crappie on a trout crankbait .. Nice slab . Then the fish got normal on me and I caught 4 more trout on trolled diawa shad crankbaits . No more bass landed. I had what looked like a 5 pound LMB follow my spinnerbait up towards the boat , but did not eat it . Gonna go back and drop shot next time . The water clarity is the best it has been all year. Over 10 feet or more in areas . Great place to be this time of year . I saw a couple dear at the end of the flats as well. Springtime is in the air. Tight Lines !
