| yak trolling at the Vine
Launched the yak with trolling motor set up Sunday about 9am. Expectations were high due to the great trout fishing weather. I was a little perplexed though , because I walked the shore on trout island , sierra flats, and boat dock cove and only saw a handful of people with fish. No one had more than one trout on a stringer at 9 am , that I saw . I figured I would troll out and slay anyways. I was loaded with new lures from Japan and fresh 4 pound p-line and a whole quiver on Shimano Symetre reels mounted on Shimano Clarus rods. Given the stealthy nature of the yak, I was dialed in to say the least. Well, after almost three hours of trolling most of the lake and tight legs and sore back from being on the yak, I GOT SKUNKED . First time ever at Irvine Lake. Granted , I only fished about three hours , but damn , still a skunk . Oh well, had a good time walking the shore and talking to a lot of cool people . Hopefully the afternoon bite turned on . Gonna have to get back out there ASAP to get the skunk smell off .
