Bridgeport

Not really a fishing report, I left Thursday around 10 pm for Bridgeport, made a fast trip, I was back here last nite about 9:30, the fall color is not as spectacular as last year but it was looking good, was supposed to snow tonight thru Monday, looked like there was a storm comming in and it was pretty cold, I got in Bishop about 3am, pulled in for gas and got out of the car with a t shirt on and damn, it was in the 30's. had a sweatshirt on the whole time I was up there. I'll post a couple of pictures of the fall colors.

On the way back, stopped and looked at the Rosevelt Elk herd, these were grazing along the side of the road, I don't have a telephoto lens on my camera, so they may be hard to pick up, but in this one area, I would estimate there were several hundred elk, some nice racks to.

I generaly allways take my suburban up there, but this time with the cost of gas, I drove my Saturn. going up I was cruising at about 75 and my gas milage was 35.5 mpg, comming back I was doing between 65 and 70, my gas milage was 38.6 mpg. The cost of gas was 2.23 at the Shell station in Pearsonville, filled up in Bishop at the Indian Reservation Casino, it was 2.39, in Bridgeport it was 2.999. Good I topped off in Bishop, made it from there up to Bridgeport and back without having to buy any gas any farther north. Did'nt get a chance to fish, sorry, no reprt on the fishing, except, they told me one guy on Wed. got 3 fish, all over 4 lbs. Damn.......

Picture of the cabin next door, there were probably 10 deer laying in his driveway when I got there, kind of hard to see them, but their there.

Killer pics Garry. I love it up there. The cabin pics look like the cabins at the lower end of Lower twin lakes I always wanted to stay in one of them but we always camped at upper. I miss that place its beautiful up there.

Beautiful Gary! I know exactly where that cabin is. I think our family friend (who built our cabin) may have built the neighbor's place. How was the fishing? BTW, those elk in the Owens Valley are Tule Elk. Roosevelts live in the thick, coastal range of the Pacific Northwest. Tules live in the valley and rolling hill country. They sure are impressive to see. Too bad that tag is so damn hard to draw.

Nate, your on to something there with the Elk, my mistake, I think now that you mention it they are the Tule, there were some nice racks out there on some of them, love to see them just setting out there in the open. I was thinking of you when I took the picture of that doe in the driveway. There just like totally tame domesticated deer, I had to shoooo one away from the car so I could get out. When I got there I had a absest on one of my molars that I'm scheduled to have a root canal on, the sucker just went off on me and my whole jaw went to shit, the only thing I could think of is I've got to get down to a lower altitude, so I left and came back home, I was supposed to be there until Monday and come back on Tuesday so I did'nt get to put a line in the water man. What a bummer.

ZZZZZ, the cabin is at the upper end of Lower Twin, second street (Materhorn) up from the paved road. Its bitchen up there and theres no place like it.

Vince, yo got to get up there sometime, the fishing is great, Friday there was NO ONE on the lake, not evan fishing from shore. I was the only one around, there also taking the boats and docks out of the lake and getting ready for winter. Its going to be a cold and wet one up there this year from what I hear from the locals.
