Mix honey, wasabi powder and soy sauce and marinate. Then grill. Use reserved marinade (take some out before you put the fish in to marinate) as a dipping sauce.
Serve with sticky rice.

Pan fried recipe:
The key is to use Sesame Oil. Cook on Med High heat and sautee to med rare. Add a little pepper and roasted sesame seeds when finished.
Make a little spicy mayo if you want for dipping (Mayo and chili sauce).
Super easy and really tasty.

Pour some Dijonnaise (or any mustard) in a bowl and thin with a little mayo, add a good dash of soy sauce and stir.
Take fillets of Yellowtail and sprinkle lightly with ground ginger then drizzle with lime juice.
Coat both sides of the fillets with the mustard/mayo/soy mix.
I put some tin foil on the grill and cooked them about 2 minutes a side. You could probably use a medium hot skillet just as well.
Or if you left the skin on the fillets - cook them skin down then flipped them just to brown, then back to skin side down and dropped a chunk of butter to melt on top before serving
The ginger and mustard flavors rock - super simple and very tasty.

The question asked was for cooking in a pan.
That said, these are some great grilling ideas.

My friend Peter's (Baja Bound) son told me about this. The nice part is that the cost is about 1/4 of what you pay Bar B Que Galore. I think it was $5.99 for a 10 oz jar.
I am going to try the recipe Troy mentioned tonight. Let you know how it turns out | i've used the seafood rub. its pretty tasty, be careful not to overuse as the flavor is quite potent

Name: NICOLO Vessel: 16 FT Location: LAGUNA HILLS Job:REAL ESTATE | Lime and Ginger Fish Fillets 3 teaspoons sesame oil 2 tablespoons finely sliced fresh ginger 6 spring onions, finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, crushed 1 tablespoon caster sugar 1/4 cup rice vinegar 2 tablespoons fish sauce 1 teaspoon finely grated lime rind 2 tablespoons lime juice 6 firm white fish fillets 2 kaffir lime leaves, finely shredded fresh herbs (I suggest cilantro) lime wedges (to garnish) - Combine the oil, ginger, spring onions, garlic, sugar, vinegar, fish sauce, lime rind and juice in a small bowl and mix well.
- Place fish fillets in a single layer in a large shallow dish.
- Pour the ginger mixture over the fish.
- Cover and marinate in fridge for 1 hour.
- Place each fish fillet onto a piece of lightly oiled foil.
- Top each one with some of the ginger mixture from the dish and some lime leaves.
- Fold in the edges of the foil and enclose fish well.
- Cook the packets on a grill or BBQ for about 15 minutes or until cooked through (cooking time will depend on the heat of your grill and thickness of fish).
- Open the top of each packet and sprinkle with herbs and garnish with a lime wedge.
Goes well with stir-fried Asian vegetables and rice. |
