I'll agree with Lawrys. Tony from Lawrys is one of few family members left within the company used to sponsor my dad and I. Gave us all kinds of cooking shit!!

Re: Best Steak Joint?

Great timing on this thread, wife's b-day is Wed. We went to Rainwater's earlier this month, wasn't real impressed. Donovan's is my favorite of the "over-priced" popular restaurants. (Ruth's chris, donovans, LG's, etc.)

I was thinking of going to Island Prime on Harbour Island this wed.

Re: Best Steak Joint?

The Yardhouse in Costa Mesa (Triangle Square) does steak really well. What brings me back there though is the 100+ beers on tap.

Re: Best Steak Joint?

Flemmings in UTC/La Jolla is cool but $$$ The Butcher shop in Kearny Mesa USED to be cool till it sold years back. Used to get buy backs at the bar and the regular cut prime rib was twice the size and you got a bowl of soup instead of a cup. Corprate sucks. Some of the locals say the one in Chula Vista is still old school.

I'll add a second to Trabuco Oaks. Not fancy but you'll remember it... and the steaks.
