Tuna Canning supplies?

I was thinking about canning some tuna this year. I've seen some recipes and all the instructions on doing it.

I was wondering where was the best place to buy a pressure cooker and if the gague kind is better than just the rocker. I live in North County so any good stores from Oceanside to San Diego would be close.

Or is there an on-line store that anyone has found best?

I can each year and I would check Bed Bath and Beyond. Every week I get a coupon in the Sunday paper for 20% off. I prefer the stainless steel one. The one I bought
was the Fagor express pressure cooker. It works great for me, I also have one with the rocker but I don't like it as much. I bought the 6 qt. and don't forget to get the
home canning kit. Nothing like your own home canned tuna.

Get an All American Pressure cooker. Worth the money. I had mine shipped in. I can do 16 jars at a time. Well worth the money.

I can't tell you if its the best place to get one, but I got mine from allamericancanner.com. I use it on my turkey fryer burner. Works great. Good Luck.

Thanks for the recommendations. I have a gas stove. I assume even the All American 21 quart would fit on a regular gas burner. Is that what you guys use?

Do you guys usually use pint jars?

I assume you're talking about you gas stove indoors. Do not can tuna indoors unless you want your house to smell like tuna for the rest of the time you live in it. Buy a turkey burner and do it ourdoors.......

I usually use the pint jars.

Yep, 21 Quart, or 24? It's big. I use the quart and pint jars. 18 quart jars per batch, and 30 something pints. I do the quarts for parties and the pints for individual use. The quart jars hold to much for one meal for two people, and we ended up wasting to much.

18 qt jars? I think you have the 41 qt. You can get 19 pt or 14 qt jars in the the 30 qt canner. You can get 32 pt or 19 qt jars in the 41 qt canner.

FWIW, most people I know can tuna in pint and half pint jars. Half pint jars are good for single serving. Pint jars hold enough for a couple of sandwiches.

Here's a place that has the models for comparison

All American Pressure Cooker
