Get as good of a set up as you can afford because once you start you won't be able to stop and you will want to upgrade right away.I learned that one the hard way ,as I started with a cheaper set up and upgraded pretty quick and with the money spent on both I could of got a really sweet set up - have fun and good luck

I will second that. It is worse than crack cocaine.
I now have 32 fly rods and reels, from 2wt. to 15/16 wt.--and I dont event know how to use them!
You might be able to get by with one setup for both. I still use a 9 ft seven weight for fishing big streamers for trout, and in the surf for barred perch and corbina. I also used it in Belize for bonefish. I do, however use a different reel in the salt, but you could have a lot of fun with a good used 6 or 7 weight rod and reel setup.Name: 1 iwana.jpg
