Owens River Fly Fishing Report 01/28/07

Hello Anglers,
The Lower Owens River water flows have stayed pretty steady this weekend 160s . The fishing on the wild trout section was on the slow side for anglers with less fish being landed than during the week. The water temps are cold and hover from 38 C to 41 C so fishing during 10:00am- 3:00pm tends to be the most productive time. All fishing has been with double nymph rigs a 9ft 5x to six tippet with indicator and some spilt shot . For your flies size #16 - #20 try these patterns
1. Bead head caddis olive #16
2. Bead head brassie olive #18-#20
3. Hares ear olive #18-#20
4. Pheasantails #18-#20
5. Buckskin nymph #18-#20
6. P.A. rubber worm red #18-#20
7. WD-40 gray & olive #18-#20
8. Stevie's Wonder gray & black #18-#20
Recommended rig: after tying on first fly from 5x 9ft leader add some 6x tippet by tying to bend of hook. IS THIS IN COMPARISON TO A UTAH WINTER

no it's because,
over the last 2 yrs they have had over 1200ins
of snow.
now that a lot of snow.

good to her from you. Yes happy for the fishing but this year I turned 1/2 the store into a snow board shop. I hope you like the web site we are still working on the data base but once done customers can book guide trips on line and also rent gear to. I will have the online store done in the fall keep in touch.
