Damn Rookies

OK, im "triing" to get into flyfishing. Mostly freshwater. I live about 20 minates from Diamond Valley and figure its a shame not to learn to fly. Any tips or insider info anyone wants to share will be greatly appreciated. Whats a good size Rod (im a short dude) whats the skinny on decent tippets and leaders? I dont think ill be tieing any flies or anything that legendary, and i dont need top of the line cutting edge equipment, but i dont want to get laughed at when i ease up to the shore either. Thanks in advance. I know on BD ill get all the info i need. Wet Them Lines!!!!
