Just back from my latest trek across Montana/Wyoming. We started at the Big Horn and ended up in Yellowstone.
Great Trip. I do not know if Madison River Outfitters in Yellowstone is a mom and pop shop but they are wonderful. Hugh selection and personal service. Sales rack is chocked full of stuff and heck it is not even the end of the season.
I am taking my girlfriend for her first time in Missoula on Monday for a week. She is now my full time fishing partner. She will even be throwing dries. Ye haww. Hey I am just trying to keep up with you and Bruce.
Jamie
Thanks for the info. |

They were there as late as 7 or 8 PM a few times this last week. No hardsell and are happy to show you their latest lines of goodies with no expectation of sale. Yes, I bought plenty there.

I travel a lot and stop by just about every fly shop I go by. There are a couple of shops that stand out of the crowd for me. In Bozeman I like Montana Troutfitters Montana fly fishing - Montana Troutfitters - Bozeman's oldest, most trusted trout shop, they were nice and helpful. I've called the owner Kris to get info and he's always willing to talk fishing. Not all the shops in the area were like that.
If your every in Oregon, on the Yakima, I like Worley Bugger Fly Co. a lot. Great shop and they won't steer you wrong. Super guys to talk to and deal with. Worley-Bugger Fly Co.* Your Complete Yakima River & Central Washington Outfitter!
As far as my home shop, well I go to Bob Marriott's, they know me there and they have everything under the sun so I can always get what I'm looking for.
Just my 2cts worth. I stopped by every fly shop on my recent trip to the Snake. The South Fork Lodge had a pretty good shop and were very nice for a high volume shop. I didn't really like the shops in Jackson very much, they seemed really busy and people weren't as friendly. The West Yellowstone shop are pretty good with most helpful guys coming from Jacklin's shop. Although Bob didn't like stomping through the shop with my wet wading boots on.

I stopped in to Lawson's and picked up the new disc on the Henry's Fork and though it is not terribly detailed it is a fairly good and informative disc on the Henry's. |

I have only run into a few people from here while I was at work, I guess I am just missing everyone as they are fishing. |
