Sage Xp, 5wt, 9ft, 6"

Looking for feedback on this rod. I have a chance to get a new rod at cost and was considering this XP for float tubing for trout. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Jeff.

Re: Sage Xp, 5wt, 9ft, 6"

The 9'6" length should help with hook sets and getting the line off the water. Our buddy Stan has been haveing good success with his ten foot Cablas special, from the float tube. Mike(Idaho, Smitty1) has all sages and loves them. As far as the numbers go, well maybe give Dennis a call, he is up on all that.

Merry Christmas and thanks for the card, the family looks great.

......depending on how much you are willing to spend i would consider the d series Sage rods. Lower end of the scale but a killer rod for the money. I personally like the 4wt 9.6 ( rod length and speed is key for FTing and shore fishing ) and have never felt under gunned anywhere here or Montana. I should also mention i have a 8wt Sage so using the rod for salt and fresh wasn't a consideration....however a 4wt is a blast to fish for spotted bay bass with.
Also Sage has replaced many of my rods&tips free of charge; you get what you pay for
