| Re: Heading Back to the Big C
Here is my report.
My brother fished wed Aug 31 at Green Banks but didn't get in the water till 6pm. We trolled around for zip and had only one hit. Oh Well.
Thursday we rented a boat and went to McGee. We had heard about an epic streamer bite, so we took our tubes and launched near the inlet. We trolled around for about an hour for two strikes and no fish landed. We were in about 5 to 8 ft of h20. We noticed that the midgers were getting a few grabs, so we got back into the boat and gave it a try. We had good, (not great) action all morning till about 10:00am, then it slowed down. We had steady grabs and caught some nice fish. We caught some quality cutts and a couple nice browns. At noon exactly, the wind started blowing hard. We rescued one float tuber and towed him back to his car.
For whatever reason, we definately out fished the streamer pullers this day. We got back out around 3pm and caught a few small ones before calling it a day.
Friday: Rented a boat. Pretty much the same action as thurs, but slightly slower, (less grabs). We had some nice quality again this day. I caught a beautiful hook nose cutt around 20" or so. Bite slowed around 9:30, so we took off for Green Banks. Only one float tuber there. We set up in 12ft and caught several stockers but no big ones. Went back to McGee but it was slow still and then the wind came up again at noon. The streamer guys seemed to be doing a little better on Friday.
I almost forgot, the stockers have arrived and have filtered throughout the lake. We left friday eve.
Saw some of the Double Haul Favorites out there checking it out. Looks like guys are starting to get ready. Jeff.
