River Etiquette: How to be a dipstick?

Let's have a little fun with this one. A variation of the Sports Boat thread. It can include float trips, flyfishing from the bank and spring creeks.

I'll start:

Wading to the middle of the river while flyfishing from the bank but not far enough out so that when I come drifting around the corner I can't get behind you, then bitch that I just ran over "Your" hole.

The waders should just avoid streams frequented by drift boaters.

Really?

I waded the Madison and never had an issue with the drift boats. I've also waded the trinity and almost every other river in Norcal. Waders and drift boats can get along fine. It just takes a little respect on both parts.

Back to the above question....

Jump above or below in a hole that a person is working.

Well, there are definitely streams not accessible to drift boats with quality fishing in them, so I tend to target those when wade fishing. The big name blue ribbon rivers with tons of guides/drift boats, I leave to them. This summer we fished the South Fork of the Boise during the drift boat season. No guides allowed. Quality fish and little pressure. Despite the high water conditions, I wade fished it in the evenings and only saw a boat or two. We also fished the Owyhee which is 100% wade fishing. Both were great rivers, uncrowded, quality fish and I will fish them again.

Is pissing in the river upstream from another angler considered bad etiquette?

The only part wrong with your original description of the wader was that he "bitched that you ruined his hole". Both anglers have a right to the stream. The wader was there first and has less mobility, so you the drifter need to respect that. You not being able to get in behind him is a minor inconvenience as you have the rest of the stream to drift. Me thinks you the drifter need to learn how to get along with the waders and vice versa.

Disclosure: I both drift and wade fish.

Go naked and describe your shrinkage. Unless you're a hot woman then get ready for lot's of drift boats.

Here's one. Wait for your buddy to find a nice hole. After he catches a few fish, ask what he's using. Then when he hooks the next fish and has to take a few steps down stream to land the fish, jump into the hole. Perfect. You fuck your buddy and get the hole. Now that's a dipstick.

you, your brother, and a couple friends get all drunk and steal your neighbors little wooden boat to shoot the rapids. but when you get there all your friends wuss out so you and your brother do it alone. the boat gets destroyed when you go over a waterfall but you become closer with your brother.
