MY BACK YARD

I live in Lake Arrowhead and my house is about a 2 minute walk to the lake, it is a close as you can get without being a lakefront. I decided to go down to the lake about 11:30 and try my luck for some bass. This time I decided to take my fly rod. I usually fish with a spinning set up, but this year I am going to try something differnt. I took a my Sage 6wt with Sinking line and a hand full of streamers. I was casting inbetween the dock and letting my streamer hit the bottom and then stripping it in. It took me a few cast to get going and then I got slammed by a 3lb smally. Within 2 hours I landed 5 bass. 2 LargeMouth and 3 Smallies! The Smallies fight HARD. I had a great day and the weather was perfect. here are a few pics to keep you entertained.

Nicely done on the fly. Those smallies are a blast on light tackle. What part of the lake are you? We're over in North Bay, dock N452, maybe I'll see you working the fly up there this summer and say hey.

Smallmouth are way fun and a worth while fly rod quarry. Later in the year make sure you try out the top water action. Smallies love the stuff on top.
