My buddy has a brand new Andros docked at his house in Brooksville, FL. I am headed down next week to chase some tarpon with him. Thought I would see if anyone had a report or suggestions for hooking those dudes on the fly. Last weekend he hooked up 4 times but landed none.
Double check your knots and if you are still arent landing them take some of the drag off em and follow them in a boat. Just make sure you got a good strong leader so he dont chew through it.

If you really want to load up on tarpon with a fly rod, fish the palolo worm hatch in the Keys. It's by far the most prolific tarpon fishery I've ever seen.....but it only lasts a matter of days (around the full moon that separates May and June).

I'm in that neck of the woods. I haven't fished them down there in years but there are plenty up towards Crystal river and north..
Stickin' 'um is one thing. Landing another. Enjoy the show
Ive been fishing for them 1 week a year for the past 5 years. Hooked and jumped many. Finally landed my first one last week at Egmont Key in TB. Awesome fish! 6-7 footer estimated at 150-175lbs. Heavy stick with a trinidad 40 loaded with 50lb, good luck on the fly.
