Exclamation Navy recruit in NEED of time on the water. HELP

Hey there, Just joined the Navy and re-located here from Boot in Illinois. I NEED to catch somthing that fights. I was born and raised in Southern California, and from what I have heard it's quite a bit different. Looking for ANY tips as to what, how, and when to target Reds, Trout, Cobia... just damn near anything. I will have my gear here in about 2 weeks and I have an inshore mape of the area. I'm not asking for secret spots because I hated it when people would overfish the good spots and didn't put forth the effort or hours on the water . Basic info is all I ask. Lures, line class, and season for type of fish. Also I have heard Cuda are a nuisance but I like to catch them, for now at least. I will be here thru about July before I ship out. Any input would be nice. Thank you. Mike

Hey man, there is a MWR place on the base that rents boats so you can at least get some fishing in the bay. Its out past the museum. I was there in Febuary and March and we caught east coast type sheepsheads and some differnt kinds of jacks. Also if you still can fish there you might try fishing off the seawall, caught all kinds of little stuff there, shittons of pufferfish and crabs. But that was pre 9/11 so don't know whether thats still allowed or not. Good luck.
