FOR WHAT ITS WORTH (GLITTLER)

www.kitkraft.biz

Here it goes, I have been getting alot of PMs reguarding this question. It was posted last year, however here it goes again.

Bait is costing alot of money, sometimes it rolls due to weather, bad pumps or a dirty tank cause your boats been sitting for a whole year and you forgot to clean it out, thinking you could just flush it, whatever it is bait cost money.....

The old timers, would buy glitter in bulk, I mean 25 pound boxes. Not these little chicken shit 1/2ounce bottles from some bluehaired old ladies craft shop. OK. The stuff cost money and its not cheep, but unlike live bait, you can keep it in your garge for next year.Untill the rats get to it and spread it all over, or a new puppy, thats the name of my new band PUPPY GLITTER POOP.

When working a area, you know boxing a zone (some scratch head now) because of deep meter marks. We would every few minutes toss a hand full of glitter in the prop wash, (the stern). then we would pop a few choives out. Key point here,, pay attention, when you toss the glitter out 1st, the fucking birds dive on it and drop back, this gives you time to pop a few choive or deans out, without them getting picked up by the birds.
Kind of neat, I know,, whatever.

NOW, lets take a kelp pattie, you pull up and see deep marks, yet nothing up top. Most guys will take off, Drop down deep, and toss a few hands of glitter, DOWN WIND Foo! drift over it and in doing so, as your drifting a bait deep with the clicker on, your bait will lift up as you drift. Follow so far? As your bait drifts up, and the glitter sinks out, SOMETIMES the fish find your bait due to the glitter shinning like yes,, FISH SCALES.

Also,, if your in a area where birds are working and you see pushing yellowtail, you just might want to land a few hand fulls of glitter ontop of the pattie. Let it sit there and let mother nature sink it out. And go on your way, checking the pattie later. This works pretty well if your ,,,,, whats it called??? oh yeah buddy boating....

the glitter you want is heavy type and can be found at KIT KRAFT just google it, its not cheap. However it comes in 1/4inch size flakes and smaller, also in several colors and shapes. Stick with what you know,,
Gold, Silver, blues with alittle bit of red mixed in.

You guys have been using glittler for along time, its in your swim baits, marlin heads, mako jigs and make-up. Its just a matter of thinking outside the box, or in this case going back in time and remembering how the old timers did it. Its like slow trolling a dead dean down swell, galley trolling so the cook can make a few burgers and a few bucks.

In a bite, if you drop glitter, drop it away from your stern, not on top of the bite. It will drift away and might take the fish too...

I hope this can answer some questions, if not call NOAHS TACKLE and ask for KEVIN....

Awesome information, thanks! Make sure what you buy is not plastic, but rather metallic glitter. The plastic, carried at most craft shops, will float, not sink.

Someone was bitching about environmentally friendly. Please. Yeah how dare you pollute a few sqaure feet of ocean bottom in 500 fathoms of water with biodegradable metal flakes. Sometimes its hard to refrain. I try really hard though.

Re: FOR WHAT ITS WORTH (GLITTLER)

Here's a hint...you need about 25 lbs of that for an effective presentation to the fishies....minimum

Re: FOR WHAT ITS WORTH (GLITTLER)

25lbs per dump to be effective? Id like to hear what Tommy says. Regardless, some metal flakes on the seafloor would not only be biodegradable and harmless, but legal to dump.

i can vouch for this trick. I have done this routinely for the past 2 years and it works on tough bites.
