Re: How to catch cuda and calicos

For Cuda, popeye's chicken draws him in everytime.
For Calico, a well built, shaved downstairs, blond.

Hope this helps.

On a serious note, live bait works pretty good. Can also get them on the surface iron or swimbaits. Fish the outer edge of the kelp for both species. If you want to target just calicos, drift through the kelp while dropping swim baits in the holes.

Single hook on the jigs for the skinnies unless your going to bring them home for the cat then its no problem. A little C-4 at depth works well on the checkers.

Re: How to catch cuda and calicos

If you're fishing live bait - long shank aluminum hook for the cudas. 30lb. P-line and crank like Hell when you get bit. No slack what-so-ever to the gaff. Small circle hooks for the bass, with brazed rings for bait action.

Re: How to catch cuda and calicos

for cuda, you could try slow trolling a pastrami sandwich. I have never met calico.

Re: How to catch cuda and calicos

Hmmmmm, Pastrami!

I like iron for 'cuda and plastics and bait for Calicos.
I don't like to keep 'cuda so single hooks makes releasing 'em easier.
