Use your teeth to pull out the loop, (kind of like a third hand).

Dropper loop is most definately a weak knot. Easy to tie, and good on 30 - 40 # but not lighter. I do like the look of the Kiwi dropper loop. I'll give it a try if I can remember how to tie it when I'm on the boat.
"Course, if there are fish biting I can't tie anything other than a granny or bird knot.

I also take it a step further and use another short piece of old junk lighter line (8-15#) and seguar connect it to the main tag line and THEN hang the weight. That way you have a weight that will bust off easy when snagged on the bottom and can quickly replace it but not your whole rig and it will reduce the amount of mono that is stretched/fatigued while trying to bust it off.
Plus it has to be one of the easiest knots in the world to tie.

I don't pull down too hard on the knot and cut the top line of the loop near the knot. Then tie on the hook to the tag end of the loop. The hook is now directly tied to the reel. The sinker goes on the original end of the line. The sinker can get snagged and undo the dropper loop knot but the line is still affixed to the hook. Basical it is a way to tie the sinker onto your line. Works for me.

If the loop is slipping, you might not be putting enough turns on your knot. The surgeon's/spider hitch/roy rose/seguar are all stronger than a dropper loop -- but they'll all slip too if you don't put enough turns on them.
The kiwi knot is also stronger than a normal dropper loop knot and because it's tied in a kind of braided/pleated pattern, it seems to do pretty well with not slipping.
Also, with all these knots, the lighter the line, the more turns you need.
I find 5 turns works for 40#, 5-6 for 30#, and 4-5 for 50#.
When you pull your knots tight, wet the line and cinch them down evenly and carefully. How well you pull your knots down tight makes the biggest difference.
