| Need help in selecting gear for 5-7 day trip
Can any of you guys give me some suggestion on what gear to buy for a 5-7 day long range trip.
I have never been on one and not sure what gear to bring. Meaning the type of rod, lenght of rod, type of line and lb and reel models and sizes.
Weights, hooks...etc...
Any and all suggestion would help me a great deal since I've never done one of these trips before and I'm not sure what to bring. Dont want to bring the wrong gear and dont want to forget anything i need.

20-optional, one 30lb. rig, 2 40lb. rigs (you'll use these most) 2 50lb. rigs, one 60lb. and one 80lb. you can rent a 100lb rig or use the boats trolling gear and save the money for other stuff. Hooks, leader material and most of all jigs light and heavy. Don't forget the Sabaki rigs for making bait. You fish ...you make it. Good Luck |

I have the 20/25, 30, (2) 40's, (2) 50's and an 80lb troller, heavy bait/dropper loop rig. My question is, do you differentiate between high and low speed 40# and 50# rigs? Right now I have two Pro Gear AS540's in 5:1 and 3.6:1 as well as two Accurate 665's in 6:1 and 4:1? i.e. the high speed reels more suited to jigging. Is this the way to go or am I overthinking this?

Guys, I have a 20 year old Penn 113h that has been used one time. Is this a 30# reel? I have a glass rod that is not near has heavy as my 700H. What could I do with this? The one time I used this outfit, it was in the Gulf of Mexico catching snapper and grouper.

If you've got a 700H (my favorite rod) then you know what I'am talking about. |
