I filled up a couple Toriums almost 3 years ago, one w/ 20# mono, one w/ 25# mono (Big Game in both cases). Never used the reels since, and reels kept in reel boxes in closet (not in garage).
Question: Since the line was never used is it O.K. to fish now, or is the age a problem and should I respool? Does unused mono weaken over time? Again never used since spooling up 3 years ago.
I think if they don't have saltwater and not exposed to UV then it should be fine. I got lines that's been used for years and they are still good, but then again I'm too cheap to replace them.
should be good. I have some spools of big game that are nearly 20 years old and still use them to fill reels. If is has been stored properly you are fine. Big game is clear line, and when exposed to the elements will turn a milky color over time. IF the line looks clear use it.
