spectra to mono splice help

whats the best way to connect a 40lb fluorocarbon top shot to 65lb spectra? I have tried a bloodknot but oddly enough the 65 lb spectra breaks before the 40 lb fluorocarbon leader. i dont know what i am doing

when you say the spectra breaks...do you mean it breaks at the knot or before the knot? i tie albrights for 30 to 50 and 40 to 65 and the spectra always breaks a few inches before the knot so i dont use any other knots.

Try the MID knot its the best for this application. Your line will break at hook before the splice ever does. Tie it and give it a test run on a scale i think you will like it. Heres the link for your convienience.
