Snap Swivels with irons???

Read somewhere that it will effect the way a surface or yo yo iron will swim. Is this true?

Just looking for a way to switch off quickly as opposed to having to tie more knots.....

Thanks for any feedback.

Yes, I've seen people do this. It defeats the purpose. The jig does not swim at all. You can maybe get away if you had a megabait style lure without a ring on it. But I would not recommend this.

I can tie a knot almost as fast as I can unsnap the swivel and snap it back with another jig.

if you're rushing to save a couple of seconds, you'll probably backlash that first cast, anyway.

"almost"? Well, I'm 64 now. Combine my fumbling fingers with my 64 year-old eyesight plus 52 years of Palomars and......I can clip off the jig, tie the replacement on, and be half-way down quicker than I can get a good swivel
UNSNAPPED. Plus I have a fresh knot there,on fresh line.

Last summer we were on the WSB at SQ and I cranked up a chrome to change to an all white. Really fast change, everything like clockwork, but as
I watched it sink I noticed I had tied the chrome back on,not the white.....
I'm still sharp at noticing those little things.

2nd this. Use a palomar knot and you can easily tie it within 10 seconds and that's taking your time.

use a small speed clip. Its not the cleanest method but will work. I know guys that use snaps on lures, in clear water and still catch fish. Give it a try, if you dont get bit, change. Not every idea works out, but if you dont try you wont know.

Met some good fishing friends lately that say some pretty neat stuff all the time. Guides that know what works, and still say things like, Try it all, who knows what will work. You just gotta give it a try and change what aint working.

you might catch fish but it wont work as well as a knot will. learn the san diego it only takes about 12 seconds to tie. it is also noticeably stronger than a palomar with 40# mono. i usually only take 2 jigs with me. so if your 'that guy' that changes his jig every 5 casts you might want a snap.

I think your refering to Kyle aka Squidco aka FishGods.

Yes, using the Double SD Knot is better than a snap swivel. It only takes me 8 seconds to do.

Double SD Knot is better than a snap swivel. That's the one Wyatt.

Double up the line that goes in through the eye and tie.
