Do you all still tie that knot? If I'm going to use a double line knot on a jig, it's a Double San Diego. I use the single San Diego for hooks, even up to 100 lb fluoro.

I tie on all my jigs . Keep it as simple as possible . Those welded rings are on there for a reason. I've used the Palomar since I got out here some 16 years ago . We have tried the Double Clinch and Double San Diego knots with about the same results all good . I use the Doubled Improved Clinch for braid to mono connections on my bottom fishing reels with no failures .

Highly doubtful you'll get a yes on that disaster waiting for a place to happen.

25# izor is almost as strong as 60# izor if a palomar is tied in both cases.

25# izor broke at 35.5# average of 5 tests, 60# izor broke at an average of 42.25# average of 5 tests. it may be different in the real world, but at fred hall this is what happened.

Higher tests it sucks more. 25# Izor with a good knot should break around 40#.

Simply put, it all boils down to water time. Is a Palomar a good knot? Yes. And No. Like David says, it sux for higher pound test lines (I am referring to mono and fluoro). That is a simple law of physics. I would never even consider making a cast with a Palomor knot tied to anything heavier than 40 lb. Conversely, I last night when I was freshwater bass fishing, I used a Palomar to tie 16 lb. to my spinnerbait. Boiler--here is something your can do that will answer the question you posed to Mr. Choate. Take two jigs (without hook is preferred!), and tie one end of the 60 lb. to one with a Palomar, and the other with one of the knots recommended by the long range boats. Have a friend grab one jig, and you the other and pull. The Palomar will definitely break first. Rather than a scale, it is a simple way to answer "which knot it stronger".
