What I would do is mount the rack to the wall so the rods would be horizontal.

I don't think my landlord would like me cutting a hole in the celing...

ceiling rack

I put this rack up on my ceiling-holds 20 rods without reels and is 50 long. I have rods from 7' to 10' on it.
