Summary: September 30, 2009, NOAA Orcas Meeting in Seattle

Commendations to NOAA for conducting an orderly meeting in a pleasant and safe environment

Recommend that NOAA provide a brief period of time after each chart is presented to allow;
1) Clarification questions from the audience
2) Clarification answers from NOAA.

NOAA presentations should be made available to the public before, during, or immediately following the meeting.

NOAA presentation still contains errors and conclusions that can not be supported by the facts. For example, NOAA presentation fails to identify Washington State law that provides protections for southern resident orcas whales, RCW 77.15.740. Failing to recognize Washington State law, NOAA criticisms and conclusions about present guidelines and regulations are in error and not supported by factual data.

Good attendance and participation from the public.

Public comments were unanimously concerned with well being of the orcas and overwhelmingly against the proposed no go zone.

Thanks for the post. That sounds like some healthy advice for a volatile situation.

plus 1, for food and refreshments you should consider the wheel house next to village pizza. the food and selection of is great. and I might add Jay (dash one) owns the joint and we always like to support fellow bders... they are located at 807 commercial ave and it is close to the docks.
