Picked up a Saltist 40T yesterday and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with one for this task. Want to pair it up with a 90J or a Ulua. It holds 270yd of 30# so it sounded like a good call. Thanks.
I've used the 30T, both are great reels. I'd fill it with 65# spectra and then a 100yd topshot of 40# so that you cant outcast your topshot but have line capacity incase you get worked by a pig.
I have a 90J, a Ulua, and a 100J. My favorite is the Ulua cut down to 9'6", 2" off the top and 4 off the bottom.
It's a certified Cedros Yellowtail killing mofo......
Great reel. I have been touting them for years for both bait and jigs. It will match up great for the rods you are mentioning but I prefer it as a 40 pound reel.
