Accurate 665h help

So I picked up a used 665h in great condition.

My problem is when I mount it on my 40-50# rods the reel clamp will not go on. The reel seat is just a hair too wide not allowing the bolts to thread on properly.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any solution? No reel clamp I guess.

WTF it's a 40-50# reel but it does not fit on 40-50# reel seats?

Whoa, deva vu all over again.
Had the exact same situation with one of my rigs, but didn't discover it until we were putting rigs together on day 2! Thankfully the boat had a small round file, and now the reel seat has 2 crude grooves. Worked fine, looks ugly, kept it as a reminder.

It happens on a lot of rods, namely the ulua and 90j/100j. Accurate should definitely think about making a wider clamp.

Ran into the same problem with my 870N wouldnt fit my Calstars and Took a dremel tool to the seat and very lightly made 2 groves fits fine now and there barely noticeable. Then got a gusa for it and it fits fine. I use it on differnt rods and since it's #40 I use it without the clamp no problems at all, just take the studs out and use it without. Also easy to palm without the clamp. It's onle about a 1/8" youd think they would fix the problem. At day at the docks Tony from OC rods said to me maybe they should call them in-accurate

my solution to this problem was to shorten the "nuts" that thread onto the studs. Calstar 870 as well, the studs fit over the seat but leave no room for the nuts.

kinda hard to explain but the "nuts" only grab about 4 threads.

You guy's got me scratchen my head so I checked mine it fit's perfect on the seekr black steel 6470H and 6465XH but my 197 wont on my 670 and 6465 but the file will work but on the small stuff i guess no need for the reel clamp.

They have 2 stud sets short&long you need to use the long ones on my GFR's the shorts won't work on the stock seats

A bolt/nut connection is at full strength (i.e. breaking strength of the bolt) when "threads grabbed" equals the width of the bolt. In this case, about 4.

Thanks for the responses, well the helpful one's.

Well, I found a solution. I ordered some new bolts and nut's from Accurate. The one's they sent have a smaller diameter than the original one's that came on the reel.

The smaller diameter bolts allow just enough clearence to get the nuts to tread on. They scratch the reel seat, but they fit.

Problem solved. So if you had the same problem, order some new one's from Accutare. (They charge you for them)
